This I have come to accept. So it is with not an ounce of shame that I fess up to my love (LOVE) for Teen Vogue. Exhibit number 852? Their recent spread on Nirvana. I've heard the adage that if you wore it the first time around, you have to sit out round two. But I'm ready to full-on embrace this look...again. Even if it gives me nightmares of that 7th grade dance when noone wanted to slow dance with me but everyone wanted me to mosh because they said my (dyed) red hair looked like it was on fire. I went home with matching heart- and head-aches.
The second time around, I'm doing it RIGHT. All the boys in the club gonna wanna be slow dancing with me when they check to my lacy dress and nava-'ho cardigans. They're gonna wrap me up in Pendleton blankets and cuddle till it's curfew time. For serious, yo.
I know the grunge thing has been back for awhile, but I love how this spread kicks in other trends--Pendleton wool, navajo prints, fairisle sweaters--and mixes them up in really beautiful ways. I also love that it's taken fall's stripe trend overload (and I say that recognizing that I'm the biggest offender) and reimagines it in a new way. I'm definitely up for copping to these stripey thermals and pattern mix-and-match.
PS - Mom, if you're reading this and you still have those flannel babydoll dresses that you made during my St. Tommy More days, pull 'em out! Also, those flowered 'Docs that have been in the basement for the past 10 years. See, I told you I'd clean out my closet eventually!
