Greetings from my second week of funemployment,
The complete lack of Nana Banana posts can only mean one thing: That I've been working my little tuchas off. Right? Wrong! I've been eating bon bons and working on my Elvis crossstitch (btdubs - Happy Belated, Mr. Presley). But now, I'm cracking the whip, on myself. Ouch.
First order of business? The workspace. Currently our spare room/office space/place for friends in transit to leave crap until they get new apartments looks something like this:
See, that's me, in the middle, looking frustrated. Except I'm wearing PJ pants and an old Rilo Kiley tee, likely with a coffee stain on the front. This is not good for the productivity. In an alternate universe where I can blow a few thousand sprucing up the space, I'd like it to look like this:
I like the white-on-white furniture, the spare simplicity of it. Right now I have a great Bertoia-style vintage chair that needs a fresh coat of white paint and a new cushion (I'm hoping to recover it in a kanga that I brought back from Tanzania). The second major order of business would be a desk. I like the idea of using a Saarinen dining table (or the Ikea Docksta knockoff) so that I can spread out, have fellow freelancers over for work parties, etc. But I wonder if that's impractical due to the lack of storage. My dreamworld alternative would be this little number from a shop in Paris.
However, I have yet to win Mega Millions. So I'm toying with these (also still totally out of the freelancer budget I have for this project). What do you think?
West Elm Sawhorse Work Desk - I'd paint it white ($549)
Plateau Computer Desk from Overstock.com $259.99
BluDot Desk 51 ($699 - but maybe I could keep my eye out on Craigslist?)
Thoughts? Suggestions for making a serene workspace for a spaz like me?
